BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The South China Sea is the shared home for the countries in the region and should not be a wrestling ground for international politics, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
"The history of China-U.S. relations over the past 41 years teaches a lot," he said, adding that the valuable experiences have proved effective in the past and remain effective now and will continue to be effective in the future. Enditem
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing said the Chinese government attached great importance to the cooperation between China and Pakistan to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the briefing on March 2, Zhang announced that the council would hold a debate on multilateralism during China's presidency. The proposal was reminiscent of what the United States had done to break with the multilateralist camp over the past couple of years when I was reporting on UN stories.
A spokesperson with the office said the 11 U.S. individuals, including members of the U.S. Congress and heads of several U.S. non-governmental organizations, have notorious records on affairs related to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China. These include coming up with Hong Kong-related bills, blatantly supporting "Hong Kong independence" organizations and violent radicals, or smearing the "one country, two systems" and the law on safeguarding national security in Hong Kong by various means.
All the excuses for closure claimed by the U.S. side are nothing but fabrications designed to slander China, and none of the excuses is backed by any evidence or can stand up to scrutiny, Wang said.
Carrion said the U.S. inteference would be "in the end unnecessary and useless because the situation in Hong Kong is up to China to resolve, not the United States."
"China-U.S. cooperation has never been a case of one party giving favor to the other, or one party taking advantage of the other. Both countries have benefited much from this cooperation," he stressed.
Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said that the United States should work with China to develop a bilateral relationship based on coordination, cooperation and stability, so as to bring China-U.S. relations back to the right track.
For his part, Ambassador Qian told Xinhua that cultural exchange is vital for the countries like China and Fiji to learn from each other for common development.
