BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said Friday that the U.S. attempts to smear and slander China's political system and drive a wedge between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people are doomed to fail.
"With the joint efforts of the two sides, we hope to take the relationship back to the right track despite current disturbances and difficulties. This is the best way to honor General Scowcroft," it said.
Behind these vicious lies and cheats are Pompeos and Navarros' selfish political calculations that motivate them to cover up their incompetent and chaotic response to the raging pandemic and shift public opinion for the coming elections. And most importantly, it is the scheme of China hawks to contain China's development and maintain Washington's hegemony.
While the two countries are quite different in social system and many other aspects, such differences have not affected bilateral peaceful coexistence and cooperation, said Wang.
Simon Compaore, president of the People's Movement for Progress of Burkina Faso, said that under the strong leadership of the CPC, China is developing rapidly, and its international influence is rising. China is committed to global cooperation to promote mutual benefit and win-win results.
China has no intention to fight a "diplomatic war" with the U.S. side as it will only hurt the interests of the two peoples even more, Wang said.
However, their awkward and dirty tricks will fool no clear and rational minds across the world. If those politicians continue moving in the wrong direction, Washington's dwindling credibility will be further eroded and more shame will be brought onto its diplomacy. Enditem
"The constitutions of more than 100 countries in the world stipulate that the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms must not endanger national security. The European Convention on Human Rights has similar provisions," the mission noted.
According to the agreement between the UN and the United States regarding the UN headquarters, which took effect in 1947, the United States is generally required to allow access to the UN for foreign diplomats. Nonetheless, Washington has repeatedly set aside its international responsibilities and obligations, using visas for UN-bound diplomats as bargaining chips, and even weapons, merely for its own political calculations.
The Chinese Consulate-General in Houston was the first consulate-general opened by China in the United States after the establishment of the diplomatic ties, and it was always an important symbol of China-U.S. friendship, Wang said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
