The development of China and of the United States is not a zero-sum game, and the two countries should not reject each other but draw on each other's strength to achieve common development, Wang noted in an exclusive interview with Xinhua on Wednesday.
China has valued peace and cooperation since ancient times, and always opposes dangerous acts to divide the world along ideological lines, said Wang.
Washington has never stopped abusing national and political power to repress law-abiding Chinese tech companies. Although Washington has failed to give any credible evidence to support its claim that Huawei poses a security threat, it has spent months piling pressure on other countries to exclude the Chinese tech giant from their 5G networks. BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said Friday that the U.S. attempts to smear and slander China's political system and drive a wedge between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people are doomed to fail.
China and the United States should respect each other's core interests and major concerns, said Yang, stressing that China's resolve to defend its sovereignty, security, and development interests is unshakable.
Firstly, it should respect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and stop interfering in China's domestic affairs, just as China respects those of the United States.
"I have full confidence that between China and our neighbors, we will be able to solve any problem through friendly and peaceful negotiation without external interference, without external attempts to escalate the situation," he said.
"China will not allow these people to get their way," said Wang.
"China is a sufficiently skilled country, and above all patient, and knows how to handle things with great prudence and composure," he added.
